Volunteers Needed for the State Basketball Tournament in Helena

Special Olympics Montana and their premier sponsor Town Pump are pleased to announce the State Basketball Tournament is returning to Helena Nov. 10-12. Volunteer registration is now open and Games Director Melissa Shannon is encouraging individuals and groups in the Helena area to support the tournament. “Special Olympics Montana’s State Basketball Tournament is a volunteer-driven and sponsor-supported event.” Shannon said. “The success of the tournament largely depends on our community’s willingness to step up and volunteer their time and talent.” For volunteer information visit www.somt.org/volunteer or call 1-800-242-6876.

Hosting the State Basketball Tournament is a win for the athletes and the community. Athletes win by having quality venues for their athletic competitions, health exams, social events, and ceremonies. Helena wins through the social and economic growth opportunities the games provide. Volunteers and fans experience the power of the Special Olympics mission and the local economy feels the impact of 1,200 athletes, coaches, chaperones and family members spending at least three days and two nights in Helena.
