Schedule of Event:

6:45 – 7:00: Athletes gather at the Gallatin Valley Mall – Macy’s side of the parking lot to meet the bus

7:00 – 7:15: Athletes and chaperones board the bus provided by Bozeman Public Schools that Joey Hancock has arranged.

7:15 – 8:30:  Buses depart Gallatin Valley Mall Parking Lot at 7:15 and will drive athletes and chaperones to the Madison Base Area.

7:30 – 7:45  Setup volunteer check in Headwaters Grill. > Big Sky Resort to provide access to Headwaters Grill… How early can we gain access? 7:15?

7:30 – 7:45  Big Sky Resort to provide 175 Lift tickets to registration table inside Headwaters Grille

7:30 – 7:45  Big Sky Resort to provide 25 waivers for any spectators who will walk on the snow to watch the competition

7:30 – 7:45  Big Sky Resort to provide Race Bibs for athletes

7:30 – 7:45  Big Sky Resort to provide Motorola Radios for Race Coordination

7:45 – 8:15:  ALL VOLUNTEERS CHECK-IN Madison Base Area – Headwaters Grille information table.

8:00 – 8:30  Big Sky Resort to set up AV system outside Headwaters Grill

8:00 – 9:00  Jeremy Uhland and volunteer crew setup race courses  (Can Big Sky provide a snow mobile ride to the top of the advanced course?)

8:15 – 8:30  VOLUNTEER MEETING Madison Base Area – Headwaters Grille “This 1st volunteer meeting will help orient all “athlete volunteers” providing valuable information about the mountain, schedule of events, lunch, what lifts to ride, safety, Jason to talk about equipment, SOMT overview LPCs and Chaperone etc.”

8:30 – 9:00:  RACE COURSE VOLUNTEER MEETING Madison Base Area – Headwaters Grille  “This 2nd volunteer meeting will help orient all “race course volunteers” regarding job duties, competition rules, lunch, radio etiquette including mock race communication, race result recording procedures and where to bring the race results, safety of athletes and volunteers, etc.

8:30:  Athletes arrive and gather in the Pavilion.  Athlete Volunteers should be in the Pavilion at 8:30 to meet your athlete you have been paired up with for the day.

8:30 – 9:00:  Volunteers help your athletes find all necessary equipment ensuring they are dressed and ready to compete.  Stay warm inside the Pavilion until opening ceremonies at 9:00

9:00 – 9:15:  OPENING CEREMONIES, Patio outside of Headwaters Grille and the Pavilion, at the Madison Village Base Area  (SOMT team, Athletes, Volunteers and Taylor Middleton Big Sky GM to open the games)

9:15 – 9:45:  Big Sky Resort to set the Snow Shoe competition course on Madison Avenue

9:15 – 9:45:  Big Sky Resort to move AV setup and setup tent at the finish area of Beginner and Intermediate courses at bottom of Cup a Joe

9:15 – 9:45:  (CROSS COUNTRY ONLY) – Athletes and Volunteers load up in personal vehicle or provided transportation and drive down to Big Sky Village and meet in the Chapel Parking lot.

9:15 – 9:45:  Athlete Volunteers and Athletes depart, ski down to the appropriate lift and then ski to their race course.

9:45 – 11:30:  Alpine Downhill – (Novice) – LIFT > DERRINGER “Do not ride any other lift” From the top of the Derringer lift ski down wide section of the slope until you come to the top of the race course.

9:45 – 11:30:  Alpine Downhill – (Intermediate) – LIFT > DERRINGER “Do not any other lift unless approved by SOMT coordinators” From the top of Derringer lift ski down and stay to the left following the signs.  We have a new lower start and end location that will not require athletes to walk or be towed to the intermediate race start location.

9:45 – 11:30:  Alpine Downhill – (Advanced) – LIFT > SIX SHOOTER “If you are unfamiliar with how to ski to the top of the race course please discuss this with SOMT coordinators.

9:45 – 11:00:  (CROSS COUNTRY EVENTS) – (50M, 100M, 1K and 1K Relay with Unified Partner)

10:30 – 12:00:  Snowshoe Competition – Madison Avenue – 50 Meter and 100 Meter competition.

11:00 – 11:30  (CROSS COUNTRY ONLY) – Athletes and Volunteers load up in personal vehicle or provided transportation and drive back to Moonlight Basin for lunch.

**Big Sky Resort to prepare lunch for the buffet and setup in the Pavilion**

11:30 – 12:30:  LUNCH, – Pavilion – All Athletes enjoy a good healthy lunch provided by Special Olympics Montana.  Volunteers are responsible for their own lunch.  Volunteers may need to sit in the Headwaters Grille during lunch or on the Patio as the Pavilion will likely be very full during lunch.  Volunteers feel free to ski during lunch also and enjoy the Mtn if you choose.

12:30:  Volunteers and athletes get paired back up in the Pavilion and get ready to compete.  Leave the pavilion when ready and proceed to your event.

1:00 – 2:30:  Alpine Downhill – (Beginner, Intermediate and Advanced)  Run final races during this 90 minute window.

1:00 – 2:30:  Snowshoe Competition – Madison Avenue – 50 Meter and 100 Meter competition.  Run all final races during this 90 minute window.

2:30 or earlier once competition is done         Big Sky Resort to pull down the Snow Shoe course on Madison Avenue

2:30 – 3:00  All athletes and volunteers return back to the Pavilion, return equipment and wait for awards and closing ceremonies.

3:00 – 3:45:  AWARDS AND CLOSING CEREMONIES, Patio outside of Headwaters Grille and Pavilion, at the Madison Village Base Area  (Missy O’Malley is back this year to help with awards)  “It’s going to be awesome as usual”

3:45  Big Sky Resort to tear down AV setup used for closing ceremonies

3:45 – 4:00:  Athletes and chaperones board the Bozeman Public Schools bus or their alternate mode of transportation.

4:00:  Bus departs Moonlight Basin and heads back to the Gallatin Valley Mall.  Arrival approximately 5:00 – 5:15 PM

5:00 – 5:15:  Athletes arrive at Gallatin Valley Mall for pickup.
