For 2025, we are thrilled to recognize Kyle Norman of the Helena Halos as the Special Olympics Montana Athlete of the Year. Kyle exemplifies the virtues we hold dear—character, commitment, sportsmanship, inclusion, self-discipline, and friendship. Kyle has been a dedicated member of Special Olympics since 2013, thriving and inspiring others for over 12 years. His positivity, leadership, and determination to embrace the joy of a job well done have made him a favorite among teammates and coaches. Kyle’s radiant attitude and steadfast commitment to excellence set a high standard for everyone around him.
Unwavering Commitment
Kyle isn’t just an athlete; he’s a year-round champion of Special Olympics Montana. His sports repertoire includes basketball, bowling, athletics, swimming, bocce, and soccer. Beyond the field, Kyle actively participates in health challenges like stride and move challenges and more.
But his commitment extends beyond sports. Kyle is always the first to step up when help is needed, whether it’s training, attending events, giving speeches, or assisting with setup and teardown. His dedication to the mission of Special Olympics is unquestionable, and his willingness to contribute wherever needed speaks volumes about his character.
A Model of Sportsmanship
Kyle’s respect and fairness during practices and competitions are unmatched. As a teammate, he’s known for his encouragement and support. At state bowling this past year, Kyle stayed until the very end, cheering for every teammate. His genuine care for others shines through as he fosters connections, asks questions, and takes a sincere interest in his teammates’ lives.
The Spirit of Inclusion
Kyle is a proud ambassador of Special Olympics, spreading positivity and inviting others to join the movement. He goes out of his way to include others, ensuring they feel welcomed and valued. This dedication to building a community of belonging truly embodies the spirit of inclusion.
Self-Discipline and Leadership
Kyle’s self-discipline is evident in how he balances his commitments. Employed in two different jobs, Kyle continues to actively participate in Special Olympics, never shying away from challenges. Over the years, Kyle has grown into a respected leader, serving as:
