In 2005, Jared Redeen embarked on a remarkable journey with Special Olympics, a journey that has led him to be recognized as the 2024 Athlete of the Year. After relocating from Great Falls to Missoula, Jared proudly represents the Missoula Diamondbacks team. His dedication to being active, healthy, and a successful athlete is evident in his extensive involvement across various sports disciplines.

Jared’s athletic career is nothing short of impressive. Over the years, he has trained and competed in basketball, bowling, equestrian barrel racing and working trails, gymnastics, swimming, golf, and snowshoeing. This dedication has seen him through a total of 44 seasons and competitions. Even during the challenges of the pandemic, Jared stood out by thriving in virtual fitness classes, showcasing his resilience and commitment to maintaining his physical fitness.

Daily physical activity is a staple in Jared’s life, and his recent discovery of a passion for yoga highlights his continuous pursuit of health and well-being. His commitment to staying active matches his dedication to promoting and advocating for Special Olympics Montana (SOMT).

Jared’s role as a trained Athlete Leader has enhanced his advocacy efforts. From 2018 to 2023, he served as an LETR (Law Enforcement Torch Run) Athlete Ambassador, actively participating in various fundraising initiatives. Whether selling raffle tickets, participating in the LETR Polar Plunge, or assisting officers at Tip-A-Cop events, Jared’s involvement is enthusiastic and impactful.

Local law enforcement officers hold Jared in high regard, often noting his unwavering support and presence. When not competing, Jared is known for delivering gratitude to local officers and agencies, thanking them for their service while spreading awareness about the Law Enforcement Torch Run. His efforts make him a true ambassador of both SOMT and LETR.

Jared’s commitment to his community is further exemplified by his graduation from the local Police Citizens Academy, solidifying his role as a dedicated community member and advocate.
